Centaurus & Pegasus

The Tugs Centaurus & Pegasus arrived Around 6pm last night, and tied up at piers 27 and 34. They are here to tow the Chumel back to the Gulf of Mexico.
After Topping up bunkers, Pegasus joined Centaurus at 27.

Conjestion

Todays arrivals and departures seemed to conflict, causeing ships to spend some time in the inner harbour.

Marina Ace went West of Georges Island to allow Oberon to Clear AutoPort.
Zim Panama Went East of Georges to Allow Oceanex Sanderling to clear Pier 42, and allow Stutgart Express to pass West of Georges outbound.
And the Tugs Centaurs and Pegusus arrived in preperation to return PSS Chumel Back to the Gulf of Mexico. All this was complicated by Chumel Sitting at Anchorage 1 with Ryan Leat in attendance.


Earlier in the Day, the Barge Atlantic Sealion came out of the Nova Dock.

Shipyard News

Atlantic condor took to the Bedford Basin this morning to begin trials for the first time.


She later sailed out of the harbour, and returned the evening of the 19th.
as well, the Platform PSS Chumel moved to the outer anchorage with Atlantic Larch and Ryan Leet in Escort.

Halifax Shipyard News

Pearl Mist
A lawsuit has been filed against Irving Shipbuilding over Pearl Mist. It would appear that the construction is not compliant with The Class society or the Flag State (Marshall Islands) standards, and so the vessel cannot be registered. An Arbitration panel has rulled that the vessel was complete and ready for delivery.

Pearl Mist is currently laid up at the Irving faclity in Shelbourne.

Crane Accident
Seems The shipyard flipped a crane, and dunked a forklift, while attempting to place it on the ferry Holiday Island. No Injuries (other than egos) are reported.

Several other American Ships arrived as well this morning and tied up at the ocean terminals.

HMS Arc Royal

Named after the flag ship at the Battle of Traflger, HMS Ark Royal is also the Current Royal Navy Flag Ship.
She arrived in Halifax this morning with several other British warships (tied up at the Ocean Terminals) for the International Fleet review.

She (and many others) will be open for tours this coming weekend.

other shipyard news

Atlantic Elm is undergoing work against the Nova Dock. She was in the graving Dock, making space now for a frigate.

Atlantic Condor is progressing nicely - the main superstructure has been rolled outside and has been painted, and the hull can be seen (faintly) under construction in the assembly building.

HMCS Preserver is in the NovaDock, Algonquin is at the Machine Shop Warf, and A frigate in the Graving Dock.

Scotia Dock Still On Bottom

As of Yesterday, Halifax shipyard had an approved plan to re-float the dock, and was waiting on favorable tide conditions to complete the raising.

As Mac at Shipfax reported, the Scotia Dock II has sunk to the bottom of the narrows, while docking the Tug Stvens Breaker
By Chance, I drove by as the tug was being docked, and noted curiously that the scotia docked seemed to be lower in the water then usual.

HMCS Windsor appears to be having the wraps taken off at the Naval Dockyard. She has been ashore for the past few years undergoing a refit.
